Answers & Apples, Inc. was inspired by my granddad, Michael Zannis. Phoenix, during the 1930’s had the Grand Café’. It was the home of fine dining for a beau and his date – the preference also for many political lunches. It was an easy choice considering it was the first air-conditioned restaurant in town.
Michael went on to manage the Buttery Gourmet Shop in the Westward Ho hotel for a quarter of a century. One of my memories from childhood was going to meet Papou (granddad in Greek) downtown for the rodeo parade. He would give me one of those red delicious apples from the basket on the counter. It took two hands to hold, it was so huge, and the six-ounce coke in the pear-shaped bottle never tasted colder.
Papou taught me the importance of people and friendships – the key to life. With this in mind, Answers & Apples, Inc. began in 1993. You, the people we work with, are the foundation for what we have and continue to accomplish, treating people the way we would like to be treated.
Apples are a symbol of our goal, our purpose, and our existence to provide quite simply…excellent passenger assistance.
Though we answer tens of thousands of traveler questions each year, and I am sure will sell thousands of stamps and fax hundreds of pages, this is not our business. OUR BUSINESS IS PEOPLE – first, foremost and always!
There are continued challenges ahead of us. Combining our experience and talent, our goal of achieving excellence in serving passengers at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport can be accomplished.
